Engraved Colt Question

I read somewhere that when a Colt is engraved by a so called, "Master Engraver", that he signs his name or puts his mark on the gun somewhere.  My question is, if true, where does he sign his work?  Is there a particular place on the gun where this mark or signature will be found.  I only own one engraved Colt.  It is my SASS Colt and I can not find any markings different from the various styles of engraving done on this gun.
I will say, if this gun was engraved by an "apprentis engraver", the engraving is very, very well done.

I've handled some engraved Colts and very briefly owned one. I've never seen a 'Mark' on one i'ding the engraver. If it's factory engraved it usually comes from the factory with a letter. The other engraved ones I've handled came with letters from the engraver or the company he worked for. Of course there might well be some guys who do mark theirs somehow?

Most Engravers do their Mark under the ejector housing.

I recently inspected a very nicely engraved 1908 Bisley. This one had the engravers name  under the housing.

Thanks Pards.  Guess I'll have to pull off the ejector rod housing and see whats under there.

LOL, the guns I got to see I had to handle with gloves on, I doubt they'd have let me pry off the ejector housing without a fight.

Nope, under the ejector housing is a tag that reads, 'Do Not Remove Under Penalty Of Law.' It's like the one on your mattress.
