Hey boys, I'm happy that an American based company is producing a quality made rifle even though it isn't a clone copy of the original Henry. Ya, Henry may make some claims as to the originality to the original Henry company, but so what. From the ones I've seen they are well made and the overall quality (ie wood, metal, fit, etc) is top notch. Uberti and Pietta in their adverts make some not so period correct or historical claims also on some of their models. Maybe the shooters who are using the Big Boys don't have or want to lay down the funds for one of the 'Eyetalian' clones that are approx twice the price of the Henry's. I would think that you who criticize the modern made Henry's, who claim to be pro-gun, would be more supportive of them. The biggest thing that gripe's me on this whole CAS shooting sport are the ones who 'eye-dress' every participate who may not be as 'historically correct' as them in firearms and/or dress. Wonder how many do not particapate for fear of ridicule by others. Some may not want to dress to the Nth degree or lay out the needed funds for the totally correct period firearm, maybe they don't have the funds for that 'gen-u-wine' 'Made in Italy' Henry rifle. Unless your shooting one made in the 1800's your not totally 'period correct' anyway. Don't get me wrong, I don't advocate shooters shooting in a CAS shoot(SASS or NCOWS) wearing tennis shoes, t-shirts with pictures and/or wording, and a baseball cap, along with guns of 20th century development, but ya gotta give some shooters a little slack. Many of you report that the Big Boy is not as fast a 'handler' as your Uberti Henry, Yellowboy, or '73. Maybe not, but if speed is all CAS is about, then I believe you have the wrong perception of it's purpose. My big bore guns for CAS are a Uberti 66 Yellowboy and a '94 Marlin, but I wouldn't have a problem with a Big Boy if I wanted to add to my collection. I do have a .22 caliber Golden Boy that is top quality in how it was made and fires as fast as I want to lever one in, fire, and eject. Never have had a problem with it and it is as accurate as my 1970 purchased Marlin 39M. Got on my soapbox, but standin by my thoughts. All who read this the best always for ya. Crow Choker

I'm with you on American made, I love to see American made.

Notice I took up for the not exactly period correct Ruger and it's American made. Why.....because Ruger are top notch in dependability and still have the look and close feel to a historically correct firearm.

Bottom line is the Henry Big Boy is a very fine American made rifle for out shooting and even hunting but is just not my choice (even if it was legal where I shoot) or recommendation for a WAS rifle. I'm basing my opinions on first hand experience with the guns.

Yes, if I wanted a hunting/truck gun I'd consider the Big Boy but I'm not so I ain't.
