First Cowboy Shoot....Plastic everywhere!

So I went to my first Cowboy Shoot on this past Saturday.

I had a fantastic time.............

But one thing was strange....

Folks go to great extremes to get the vintage clothing just right. The firearms are perfect for period. The carts for the most part are made of wood and although I doubt any REAL cowboys had "golf" carts to lug their firearms around, if they did, I bet they would look a lot like the wooden carts I saw at the shoot.

BUT............

What's with all the plastic?

Plastic waterbottles on plastic water bottle holders on the sides of the carts. Plastic MTM ammo boxes.

Doesn't anyone make a leather or woos sleeve for the water bottles. Or better yet, why don't folks use canteens or a goat skin flask?

Doesn't anyone make wood cartridge boxes or at least a wood box that the plastic boxes could be put into to look more "vintage" ?

Is there a market for something like this?  I have access to an industrial wood working company that could make a nice wooden box that an MTM box could fit into.

And a leather wrap for water bottles would be a no brainer from one of the leather companies on this board.

Underneath those western duds, I don't think you'll find many real cowboys...........

There are some vendors who make nice wooden cartridge boxes, but they are kinda pricey.  Same with leather-covered canteens.  A leather "coozie" for water bottles is a good idea and would be easy. 

What I find funny is guys who are dressed appropriately but still wearing their plastic sports watch to the firing line.

But.... My Good Monsiuer Franklin, it's easy for you to be a cowboy you have a horse!
for the rest of us it's all we can do to continue to feed the cats or dogs... they don;t do well grazing on the TruGreen Lawn in suburbia :-(
