GAF Troopers:

We just cleared the M4/M16/M9 range at Kandahar AF.
And I just realized that it may well have been my LAST weapons qualification.  :'(

Now I'm pondering going into retirement next year.  I was going to stay three more years in until I hit age 60 (mandatory retirement age for ARNG).  But getting back to civilian life and the gun shop is pretty appealing!
So I will probably retire at 27 or 28 years service.

I won't be able to receive ANY benefits until age 60, though.

Mustang Gregg, SFC

PS:  I got 38X40 with rifle and 40X40 with the M9.  8)

Mustang Gregg:

The big army past a law, allowing the months spent deployed to be taken off of age 60 to retire.  Check with your RNCO and your states retirement service section when you get home.

Tascosa Joe:

Yep.  That does figure in.
When I get home, I will have 27 military years.
And 19 Civil Service years (the first 4+ won't count, though) >:(.
We'll weigh all options at that time.

Muchas gracias,
Mustang

The NENG's loss will be the GAF and SASS' gain. I know that your work comittments are all that keeps you from doing as much for the GAF and SASS as you'd like. Thanks for all that you do for all of the above Gregg!

As said before take care of yourself and get home in one piece.

Thanks, Troopers!

I actually ended up as the range again but as the NCOIC.  I tried to better my rifle score with a buddy's M-4 and optical sight, but I still shot a 38 x 40.  :o

Yes, if I do retire, I'm gonna enjoy it.  8)
Running the gun shop Mon to Sat.  8)
Shooting SASS & GAF Musters on my Sundays.   8)
Maybe raising a few heifers.   ???  Wife says "no" to that.
