 8)   This is NICE

Too bad the ammunition hadn't come in yet.  I love it!

CPL Jayhawker Jake

Nice indeed.  When you do shoot it, let us know how you like it.

Although, isn't the hammer supposed to be on the other side of the barrel?  ;)

Now your going to have to learn to reload to shoot it very much,....... then casting your own slugs will be next....

LOL!!  I posted this on facebook last night and got questions about crossdraw (and why I don't have the gun on my side like Clint Eastwood) and explaining about my rifle ammo pouch that will be on the right side...then realized I had to add a footnote that the images is reversed because it was snapped in a mirror

Now that you've brought that up, I noticed in both my reload manuels, it doesn't list loadings for the 405 gr Lead bullet for the trapdoor.  The closest it comes to is 400 gr bullet and I think it's semi jacketed.    Why is that?   I even found Speer 405 gr .45-70 lead bullets on Midway....but no reloading data in my manuel.

I'm also noticing the reloading bullet selection for .45 Long Colt and .45-70 is somewhat limited on both Cheaper than Dirt and Midway.  No lead 250-255 gr available, no 405 Lead available

That's why I said casting would be next,.....you can make .457" balls,....a little bullet called a "collar button" for gallery loads and 405gr hollow based lead,...hard lead,....soft lead,.....WHATEVER you want to do,......

Sgt Chapman

If you want more lead bullet data, try a Lyman cast bullet handloading manual. Also you could check online for data for specific powders.

Everybody was telling me that .45-70 will knock you down, like shooting a .300 Magnum.  "You'll need somebody to catch you."

I just went out and bought Remington Semi Jacketed SP Express Rifle loads in 405 gr.   Put 3 rounds through it.  It wasn't bad at all. You could somehow feel the power moreso than most modern rounds...the muzzel will definately pick up...but it doesn't have this hard kick like a high powered rifle or shotgun.   Felt very good!  I like this gun!

SGT John Chapman

Put some 45-70-405s through it,.....they will change your mind,....they won't "Knock you down",....but they will get your attention....

This is why they went to the 45-55-405 loading for the carbines.....

Sgt Chapman
