Dapper Dan

We finished up the setup for our clubs annual "True Grit" match last night.
I took some pics of the stages and thought I'd post em here for those that have never shot this kind of match. (Pistol targets-blue, Rifle-white, Shotgun-red)

This match involves shooting 4 handguns....2 rifles loaded with 10 each and at least 8 (usually 10) rounds from your shotgun....on each stage!

Definitely a "target rich" environment!

(I hate shooting at card suites - I'd rather shoot at 8 inch circles!!!)

Dapper Dan

Marauder, I don't like card suites either but.....I was gettin kinda short on targets by the time I got to the far end! ;D

Arcey

Aw, heck.  Card suits er just steel cut funny.  Longs they hold still I can miss 'em fast as anyone else.  If ya get 'em movin', I can miss faster than most.

Decided I was gonna do a shoot with a one shot on every target - went 'n did an inventory.  Didn't have enough stands 'n targets.

Enjoy the more guns than usual stuff.  Two pistols holstered, sumore staged sumplace else.  One rifle starts port-arms 'n another staged close by.

But, red targets agin a mottled green background..........  Color blind, can't see 'em.............

Dan, looks like a dandy l'il set up ya got there.  All in all I got one thing ta say 'bout it - SHOOTER READY!!!!!!

You pards are gonna have some fun with that match. Looks intimidating a bit to me, but Badlands Bud, Lead Didpenser, Longhunter, Colt Mc Alister and all the fast folks would look at all those targets and figure on taking what, 20 -25 seconds?
Me, I personally don't care much for white targets. I shoot BP and have enough trouble as it is, but you did good there Dan it is gonna be some kind of fun.  :)

that looks like gobs of fun!! :) :)

Really nice setting too.  I agree with Doody about white targets as I shoot BP also.  When the smoke gets thick those white targets just flat disappear!  With more pards shooting BP maybe in the future you could get orange or green paint vice white?

Blue, Red and Orange?  Wouldn't be patriotic though would it?  And I guess the colors would clash some.  Oh well, keep it white then and I'll deal with it ;D ;D ;D

orange and green are baaaad.  We have a couple of color blind people and those colors just blind in with the grass to them.

Mostly we do black targets.

Hehehehehehehehehe.......

Black, white, orange, green er pink.  Can't see, can see - smoke er no smoke.  I ain't shot nuttin' this month 'n I'm gettin' mighty restless.  Lookin' it them purty target sets just makes it werse.

Oh well.  Back ta washin' the truck - c'mon tomorrow!

Marauder

Dapper Dan, I figured that.  That's a BUNCH of targets!

Looks like a really fun match!

Birdgun Quail

The Stage 5 background without any backstop looks like a safety problem.  How is that area secured?

B.Q.
It's in a ditch (but a purty ditch) in the middle of a cornfield.
You;d have to shoot pretty high to get a round out of there.

Birdgun Quail

Dapper Dan,

I understand.  And it sure is a purty ditch--real purty!

I just wish I was shooting with ya... ;D

Wow, look at all the targets we could miss. Let us know the results of the match. I would have to load more bullets to shot that match.

OK--A dumb question--If'n ya don't have 2 rifles- & ya can't find someone to let ya use theirs with BP--What do ya do now??  & if theirs ain't the same caliber (44/40)??
Just curious.  I have 4 R. and plenty of C&B pistols- so I would be OK.  It looks like a BLAST!!  Only problem would be the SXS would be REAL HOT by the time ya gets done with 8-10 rnds. :o ;)
Here in Az. there would be such an uproar from the few that I doubt we will ever see such a thing, but it would be fun!
BTW--Don't like white either for Rifle targets. ::)
