Looking for load data for a 180 gr RNFP 45 S&W Schofield bullet. In all the books that I've been looking at has data for 200 gr bullets and none for the 180 gr. I was told by the factory to use a 180 gr bullet in my Spencer. It would feed better. I am planing on using the Spencer at the GAF Grand Muster the end of October.
Thanks

Howdy Joe,

If you are looking for a light load, I would use the starting load for the 200 gr bullets.

I'll load some up and give it a try. It will be a good starting point.

Loading data -- fill case with BP and seat bullet.  You say you are using it for a GAF Muster.  Do they allow smokeless powder?

Windy City Joe

In GAF you can use BP or smokeless. Check out our web site at

I was looking for load data for the smokeless powder, I have a lot loaded with BP already.
Talked to Chris at Hodgdon's and he said a safe starting load with Trail Boss would be 4.5gr.

Loaded a box of fifty and out to the range I went. At 35 - 45 yards  missed 5 rounds out of the 50. Not too bad.
