Bullet billet Leather

I am looking for information on Bullet billets.  What thickness of leather is commonly used?  And what kind of leather?

After watching Bianchi's leather video's I thought he recommended Calf skin in the 4/5 oz range.

This is not a 'set in concrete' rule, there are several preferences you should see posted here.  Do not know what would be good search parameters but this has also been discussed in depth here on several occasions through the years.  For most handgun cartridges I to like the 4>5oz leather, not calf skin, in a 3/4" width.  I have not made a 22 belt in years but used as light as 2>3oz leather for those.  Single shot shell and large caliber rifle loops get a 6>7oz and the dbl shot shell pouches use 8>9oz leather.

I generally use 3/4 oz in about a 1 inch width as that is what I've seen on most period belts. 4/5 oz is OK too.

i am currently using calf in the 4->5oz range 7/8" wide as it works best with my stiching spacing

Where are you getting your 4/5 oz calf skin from?

Wicket & Craig sent us a whole hide of 4/5 oz. which we have about used the whole thing up.
We cut 7/8" holes with a bag punch like Bianchi's and cut the strips 1/16+, edge tool them top and bottom, chamfer both edges, roll them up in a roll, dip them in Gum Trag on a saucer end the run them through Blue Jean material held in the hand.
