Today I went to bass Pros to buy  a Uberti  revolver that's on sale. A .45 Uberti for $299 Good deal!
I was told that it was not in stock at the store and they would not order me one or let me buy one and pick it up when it came in (waiting preiod pbserved).
I was told no. They don't allow orders and that's the way they do business on sale items.
What a rip-off!
What kind of business is that?
Sale items (No Limit, no expiration date) and they won't honor the price?

ZVP,
Tanners sports in Pennsylvania has Uberti Cattleman Hombres for $250 in 45LC and .357mag. They have the 4 1/2" barrel and the matte black "Millenium" finish. They are not blued so if you don't like matte black don't get the Hombre. It is the best dal out there.

ZVP, I can totally sympathize with you on this. When I first moved to MO from Texas, I visited the main Bass Pro Shop in Springfield and was totally disgusted with their attitudes and service. Sales people standing around shooting the bull and ignoring customers seemed to be the norm. People with questions were treated as though they were stupid to even have questions and I found no one who could answer even the most rudimentary inquiries. Their prices can be beat by any local gunshop. They seem to rely upon tourists who are headed for Branson and afterwards won't come back to Bass Pro.  I was taught as a child that you don't treat people this way and have stuck to that philosophy in my own businesses. I have been back there only twice since 1988 and that was because visitors JUST HAD TO GO TO BASS PRO. None have ever asked to return. Don't hold SW MO responsible for this 'cause we don't like it either.

God Bless and shoot safe.

Been there twice.  No reason to ever go back.
People like me are the reason people like you have the right to bitch about people like me.

Hemingway's Restaurant upstairs at Bass Pro is the reason to go back. Sea food nauchos to die for.

Check the "returns" store next door.  Occasionally get a real good deal there.

And yes, most of the employees are hired on their lack of knowledge.

Restaurant here is Islamorada Fish Company, over priced, average food, terrible service, and a sweetened bread loaf that is truly exceptional.....but not enough to get me back.

Totally unacceptable service, and while there's not a lot you can do about it you should be able to email a complaint to there main office.  Just be polite and professional and it should trickle down to the local managers.  If not at least you get to let them know they will not be getting your service.

A trip to Bass Pro is at the top of my 'stay away from' list whenever I get to Springfield.  Every now & then, I'll stop in to see if the selection, price and service is a lousy as it was the previous trip.  I'm never disappointed.   I don't even use their website to order anyhting.  Cabelas is mucho mejor.

They don't have much of anything I'm interested in, at least not in the gun area, but unfortunately, since my well stocked local gun shop closed up, it seems to be the only place I can get to(around my work schedual)where I can get powder or primers(at quite high prices, too). Fortunately, I've got a pretty good stock of primers, hopefully a better option will come up before I need more.

I used to visit Bass Pro in Springfield when heading down to Branson...but the place has turned into a joke over the past 15 or so years.

The one thing I never miss in the Springfield, Mo Bass Pro is their "Fine Gun" room. I've seen guns there listed at .5 million and thought they might be a real buy if you had the cash. One was a luggage grade case with an engraved and inlaid 450 ??? that had been made for King George VI of England(Elizabeth's Daddy). He had ordered it for a safari and then died before it was finished. Beautiful gun!

Trouble is with most retailers is that they tee up the deals with the suppliers before hand and if they ordered more they would not get the item for the sale price. If this is the case, they should put a not on the item saying something like 'no rain checks.'

Thats normal practice with retail.

In Texas we have the 'Bait and Switch Law'. If you advertise it you better have some in stock. Sears used to pull this crap all the time. I was going to file on'm and surprise, surprise they found the Washer I wanted at the price quoted in the newspaper.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

What I'm saying is that if it was a one off special deal and they couldn't guarantee the same price after the sale stock ran out, they should mark the advertisment accordingly. That way you'd know that you'd better get your tail into the shop pronto or you will miss out.

Retailers in Australia have to mark things, 'no raincheck' or 'while stocks last.' That way you know where you stand and are not jerked around.

Vote with your wallet.  Don't go there if that's the way they treat you.  FWIW, we have a Gander Mountain store near by.  They are very close to Bass Pro with their high prices, but their service is good and their floor sales people seem well informed and available.

I used to go the the Bass Pro in Grapevine, until they closed their Fine Gun Room.  Not much reason to go anymore plus Cabela's is 2 miles from the house vs 18 to BP.

One in Concord NC is just as bad, went there 1 time and was wanting to look at an item and could not get waited on. The thing is they were not busy. Maybe it was the way I was dressed, pair of old jeans and t-shirt My Saturday bumming clothes. I guess I looked like I did not have any money and it would be a waste of time fooling with me. Boy were they wrong.  ;)
