Hi,

I've been using my 50 caliber bore brushes (from my flintlocks) to clean the 56-50 barrels on my repro and original Spencer Carbines.  I usually wrap some fine steel wool around the brush to get a tighter fit when cleaning, but was wondering  ::) if there is another larger size bore brush that any of you use when cleaning your Spencer barrels (so I can eliminate the steel wool wrap).

Any suggestions?

One pass with a thoroughly wetted .50 or .54 cal. boresnake will remove 99% of the fouling. After that I just use 2 - 3 patches and a jag. I have never had leading.
