I have been seriously considering getting a Cimmarron Thunderer (my alternate choice being a Vaquero w/ birdshead grip), mainly because I like the style and feel. I know that the Colt Thunderer is DA and not SASS "legal" ... Which brings me to my question(s)...

1. Does anyone know how it is that the Cimarron Thunderer came to be SASS "legal", for example; was it by popular demand or is there a historical Colt Thunderer SA that I am not aware of, or what?

2. What is the danger of the Cimarron Thunder losing it's SASS "legal" status?

3. Is there a chance that other non-historically accurate firearms will find their way onto the SASS "legal" list?

Preemptive Thanks to all

1.  I don't know, but I believe it has been legal since it started being made. I don't believe there was a single action Thunderer or Lightning back in the day, although ya never know if a prototype might have been made, or a similar version by some smaller company.   Perhaps Cimarron being a big SASS supporter had something to do with it.

2.  It will always be SASS legal.

3.  Sure, there's always a chance.  It happens every so often.  Henry Big Boy.  USFA Omnipotent.  Vaquero  ;D
