Didn't know where else to ask this, so here goes...

Is there a portable, hand operated, handy, and easy to operate hand de-capper that will work for everything from 30-06 to 38 colt?  The way I normally reload is to polish, then re-size and de-cap, scrape out the primer pocket, put the brass back in the press and continue on.  I have a universal de-capper, but I want something I can use at the range while waiting on other shooters and do a handful of brass at a time and dump the cases in water, or for the high caliber in a sack.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Lee has a decapper & base. A fairly stout decapper pin and a cup to set the brass on. A rubber mallet and you are set.
I use the pin for decapping my brass shot shells. Regards, TJ

Meacham has the Pope style tool, but I'm afraid to look up the price.  The cheep&easy way is to get a LEE Handtool and the Universal decapping die, and if desired, the plunger style capper.

There is an excellent inexpensive de-priming tool available that is capable of de-priming any commercially available brass with the proper de-priming punch.  I have been manufacturing them for several years now.  Originally I sold them on ebay but stopped a couple of years ago when they raised their selling rates. Now I sell them only by word-of-mouth and occasionally at a gun show.

The price of the tool is $45.00 with one de-priming punch plus postage.  I have shipped them to almost every state and four other countries.  I have attached some pictures to show how versatile they are.

Lucky R.K.,
Very Nice!

What is the smallest diameter cartridge mouth that will fit on the ones you show?  And are there one or two de-priming pin sizes?

Very nice.

Hi Mako,

The smallest caliber shown in the pictures is the Stevens single shot rifle which is 25-21 Stevens.  The smallest caliber punches I make are .22 caliber.  I have sold several for 22-250 and 223.  The largest I make is for 12 guage shotgun.  The tool will accept a full 3-1/4" case so, as far as I know, it will de-prime any commercial brass out there.  I use only the large RCBS de-priming pins in the punches.

I started making them kind of by accident.  I needed a tool to de-prime 500 BPE X 3" brass and could not find one available.  I looked at some of the tools out there and used one as a guide to build a tool for the 500 x 3".  I made it so it could handle 3-1/4" brass figuring I could then de-prime anything I needed to.  My friends saw the tool and asked if I would make one for them and I did.  Someone said, "bet you could sell those on e-bay" and I did.

I quit selling thm there about a year ago.  They raised their selling rates so they and PayPal were making more on them than I was.

The only place they are available now is directly from me or at Wyoming Armory.

Thanks for your interest.

Lucky R. K., that is a great design, and pretty much exactly what I'm looking for.  PM sent.

Alow me to make a recommendation that is dirt cheap & is the fastest method IMO.

Get a board that is say 3/4 to 1" thick and will stretch across both your knees while seated. It doesn't have to be wide, just enough to balance well. Drill step holes halfway through the board in the center to hold what ever cases you use. I have two different holes in mine. One for .44 & one for .50 cal cases. In the center of the stepped hole drill another smaller hole that is large enough for the primers to fall through.

I sit outside in a lawn chair and with the board resting on my knees I place a wastebasket underneath and between my legs to catch the spent primers as I knock them out with a hammer and a long punch. I then toss the case into a bucket of soapy water. I can deprime incredible fast with this method and it is idiot proof.  ;)
