How well does this stiff work? When applying dye or stain using a piece of wool it is hard to get the leather to evenly absorb the dye. Can anyone tell me if the stuff makes a deference. When I first started doing leather work I don't remember being aware of it.

It all depends on the particular hide. Sometimes it doesn't matter, sometimes the hide will take dye in a splotchy fashion and dye prep will help a lot. I have more than once resorted to using it after the fact, so help the dye work it's way in when it was not working out well.

So, yes, it does help. If you have a hide that is giving you trouble, mark it and use the de-glazer for the rest of the hide.

If you run into trouble and you haven't used it, wipe the dye off as best as you can without breaking into a sweat, and they apply dye prep rather heavily. With the dye prep still a little wet, re-apply the dye.

It is something that I always keep at least a half bottle of around, just in case.

Thanks for the input.
