Anyone here using the Stainless Mag tubes ? I just found a web site that sells them and I thought that would be a good way to help keep down rust in my BP shooters.

Let's hear what you think about these Tubes

We had a great time up at Cortez. Did not shoot the night shoot thoughl

No need that I can see unless you'd like to leave your rifle out overnight in the rain....but then the rest of the gun is gonna look a might poor after a while ;D

Levity aside, I haven't even found need of stainless magazine springs so far (gasp). My only on-going experimental experience is with an original 1873 & a Uberti 1866 (both 44-40) which have been fired to near exclusivity with 2F black powder loads since I have owned them (about 15 yrs). The result? ....so far, the magazine springs are solid, rust-free & the original equipment, too. I have removed each of these springs twice since owning the rifles for a wipe-down and light lube with CLP. Do I shoot them? The 1866 is my go-to gun & has 20K + rounds through it without a hitch, stoppage, live-round eject or other malady.

You mean magazine springs don't you?  I've never seen a magazine tube, who makes them?

I have Stainless springs in some of my rifles.  I got my first one because I bought a carbine used and they had let the spring and follower rust up.  This happens when people clean with water and don't disassemble the rifle and some of it gets over to the magazine.

I usually take my spring and follower out when I clean, I just unscrew the magazine cap.  Then I run a rod through the tube and lubricate it afterwards.  The Stainless springs work fine.  They will ultimately take more of a set than a plain carbon spring, If you are aware of the situation and clean the mag tube you shouldn't ever have a problem.  But, as I said they work in the two rifles I have them in, the other 5 don't have them.

Check the Long Hunter web site. I know that I had a couple of Makers Mark's before looking but I am almost positive for $50.00 green backs one can truly own one.
