took my original 1884 trapdoor to the range today and on about the 14th round the breech came partly open and I found my thumb latch laying on the ground beside me. I am shooting 60 grns of schutzen 3f over slims 385 grn big lube and don't feel like this is  a too stout of load to create this problem. I am thinking that I probably did not get my breech locked down securely and the hammer struck the thumb latch and broke it. It is broken at the shaft that the thumb latch is swedged to that goes into the breech. Any ideas where I can find an original replacement and also how to get the breech open. When the gun fired and I noticed the breech slightly open I was not aware of the broken piece so I shut it down in order to open it and extract the spent cartridge. So now I have a locked breech and no way to open it. Any ideas?

I found on the net an Al Frasca who has quite a listing of parts. Has anyone had any experience with this gentleman/

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Dixie Gun Works - S&S Firearms and Trapdoors.com should have originals.

Without seeing the piece - I can't offer help, but it's not going to be that difficult.

Good Luck.
