I brought one of these in the UK, serial No 2093, that is missing the breech block.  I've seen some photos from Two Flints on the site, which look like the same model,  but I need more details of the catch on the left side of the breechblock.  Can anyone point me at any drawings or more detailed photos, or give me any other useful info to enable me to make a replacement as its a shame to have the gun incomplete - its not in bad condition.  The catch appears to differ from the drawing in Warner's Feb 1864 patent.

Ideally I will produce an engineering drawing of the breech block.

The back face of the breech opening has a hole about 1/8 in diameter with a steel insert on the left side, which presumably takes a bolt or catch of some sort.

thanks

I have one of the carbines you need parts for having bought it at auction many years ago. I havent a clue how to get photos on here and in any case dont have a decent camera to do so but can tell you that there are a few of these carbines illustrated on the web over the years and the odd photo will show the details good enough for you to get a fair idea of what you wish to see and make. I think that if you downloaded and resized some photos you could draw up everything to scale and make replica parts to within very close tolerances of the originals. In the past I have done this myself with minor parts for guns and when finished the so called experts always seem to be fooled so you can do it if you have enough time, patience and confidence in yourself.
