Moly Coat Plastic Shotgun Wads!

I have been experimenting with Moly Coating my plastic wads for Black Powder loads.

I have read and buddies have experienced problems with the plastic wads melting in barrels using black powder.

I use Technical Grade Molybdenum Disulfide Dry Lubricant on my wads.
I put the wads in a plastic jar.
Drop in the the Moly powder.
Shake em up.

My load consists of;

.12 gauge 2 ¾
Winchester AA hulls
Winchester AA12R wads (Moly Coated)
1 oz shot or Lyman slugs.
65 grains ffg

I have no melting of the wads what so ever.

A bit of background here.
A number of years back I was into High Power long-range target Shooting (1000 yards – Camp Perry Style) around the 1990's and beyond.

Back then I experimented with Molly Coating barrels and VLD bullets.
I was also experimenting with long-range slug guns. (Smokeless powders)
This is where I came up with the concept of Molly Coating the wads.

I was talking on a few forums and as you say, the concept of coating the wads somewhat caught on.
Not sure if I was the first, but I surely was at the time here in Canada.

I then read about Black powder problems with shooting plastic wads melting.
Starring at me was a Molly Coated wad from the past.

Hmm, lets see, I say.

Sure seems to work for me.
