Dad was diagnosed with cancer around 11 years ago.  He had a small tumor in the left upper lobe of his lung.  It was very small.  So small that a lobectomy was not neccessary.  They simply excised the tumor.  Shortly after that Mom died of several different cancers.  Needless to say, Dad was broken hearted and soon got sick again.  He battled his own cancers ever since.  Now, after 11 years, he's given up the fight.
Part of my inheritance is his S&W Model 36, which he carried in his career as a high ranking security officer.  At retirement he was the head of security for the Meadowlands Sports complex at Rutherford New Jersey.  He will be sorely missed by myself and my two brothers and two sisters.
I ask all my Pards to say a prayer for my Dad.  He now sits at God's table with my dear, departed, beloved Mother.
Thank you all.   :'(

I feel your loss. I lost my Dad 4 years ago from Alzheimers. He passed on the anniversary of D-Day. He was there in '44 and, I believe he was there again the day he passed.

Pard, I feel your pain. I just lost my 98+ year old Mom this past Tuesday.  Although she had been suffering from senile dementia off and on due to mini-strokes, for the past four years, it's still hard to deal with.   :'(

My condolensces to you and yours.

Please accept my condolences.

A large proportion of the CAS folks are old enough to have watched the TV cowboys way back when. That puts us at an age when our parents have passed or are soon to go. It doesn't make it any easier, but that is life.

I wish you the best as you move on.
