OK I'm offically confused
« on: April 22, 2011, 03:54:08 PM »
I got my new Shootists yesterday and was going through the clubs on page 29. I notice that Johnson County Rangers are listed as in Berea so what is the group in Shelbyville? Someone please strighten me out as I only knew of Johnson County Rangers and spoke to Robert Chenault, Marshal prior to the recently canceled meet. I am completely confused as they are in two different directions from me. I would love to shoot both as Berea is also close enough to me also. I tried to contact Jeff Farmer but left a message a while back with no response.

I pretty sure that they shoot at Shelbyville.  Jeff Farmer is the Territorial Representative and he lives in Berea.

Better?

The address of contact listed in The Shootist or on the web site may be located in a different location then the town the range is in.

Ok it shows the Johnson County Rangers as in Bersa which is south of Lexington. Now the fellow I spoke to on the phone listed on the site is in Shellbyville as the location of the range, North of Lexington. So is this two different groups, a mistake in the magazine or on the website? As I said I wasn't aware of a group south of me. We are talking a good 100+ miles difference here in two different directions. Perhaps someone that belongs to JCR and the group in Bersa will come in and straighten it out for me.

Thanks TJ that is what I was lead to believe. Either way I'm getting a holster rig made by Cliff and hopefully it will delivered at next months meet unless it is rained out like the last. Now what group is in Berea and what is their schedule? I've not been able to contact anyone with them and would love to take part in two posses in a month. I do love the clothing style and love to shoot.  ;D

On what page in The Shootist are you finding the club being listed in Berea?

joec, from Lexington to Johnson County Rangers shoot take the first Shelbyville exit 35. Hang a right off the interstate and the farm is on the left a few miles. Look for the little cowboy sign out by the road. You'll be on Hwy 53 off the interstate and when you go through the intersection at McDonalds you'll then be on 55. When the day is near call if you can't find it.

Joec, There is no cowboy action club that I know of in Berea, KY. Think Johnson County Ranger Jeff Farmer lives in Berea. The closest cowboy club to Berea is in Jackson County, McKee,KY It is a SASS club called Hooten Ole Town. They have held the NCOWS National in the past and also the Eastern Regional at those grounds. The only Johnson County Rangers shoot at Shelbyville.
If your not doing anything on April 30 come shoot an NCOWS match at Green River Rangers Company B. We are just outside of Bowling Green KY. We are not an NCOWS posse, but will shoot under NCOWS rules. Tj

Thanks again TJ and I will see if I can get away to make the GRR company B though Bowling Green is a touch of a drive for me. I went back and looked again and realized that Jeff holds office and it wasn't a group. I simply misread the listing.

That is the number I have for you Jeff. I left a couple of message about the time I joined NCOWS in regards to a rifle but have since bought one. I just misunderstood the the listing in Shooters Magazine as all. I used a magnifying glass to clear it up. Some small text for my old eye.  ;D No problem and will be at the next JCR shoot unless it rains out again.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner but was over buying a 12 gauge Liberty 24" shot gun from another member here. We met up as he was making a delivery further south. I have been trying to find a double hammered double triggered 12 gauge with hard cased finish and this is it. Looks like it has been fired not a lot and is in good shape. These are made in Turkey and this one still feels new though it isn't.

At any way I'm looking forward to meeting you, Jeff, hopefully at the next meet.  ;D
