Howdy All-Within the last year or so while reading 'The Leather Shop' someone posted some info on the making of a WW2 type 'tanker' shoulder holster for a 1911 type pistol. It could have been posted before Feb/March 2010 as I may have been 'surfing' some earlier postings. I went into the search area, but turned up '0'. Anybody recall this posting or have info on making such a rig? My first post on 'The Leather Shop'-have dabbled in the art of transforming cowhide into 'gunboots', enjoy reading all the info and tips.  Any help I thank ya very much. Crow Choker

Try googling the "M3" and the "M7" shoulder holsters.  If you can get ahold of a copy of Edward Scott Meadows' book "U.S. Military Holsters and Pistol Cartridge Boxes", there are detailed explainations, photos and diagrams of both.  They were similar except for the strapping.  If you want to see a highly modified version, look at Doc Holiday's "Huckleberry" rig in "Tombstone."  It is basically an M7 that has been modified to take his Colt's Lightning with additional straps.  But the back "shield" is an M7.
Ride to the sound of the guns, but watch out for bushwhackers! Godspeed to all in harm's way in the defense of Freedom! God Bless America!

Out Rider-Received the 'tanker' pattern in the mail last week. Thanks much for sending. Looks VERY GOOD, you went 'above and beyond the call of duty' in your response. Thank you again for your excellent work. Yers, CC

CC, this is as fine a group as you will find anywhere when it comes to being generous and helpful.  Outrider and the others here have always been very quick to come to my aid when I expressed a need.  Just hang tight my friend and this group will impress you also, I promise.

Choker,

Glad to have been of some help.  I wanted to make sure you were aware of the differences between the M3 and the M7.  Now....you can modify the pouch design to accomodate revolvers.   The military utilized this basic design for the pilots as well and they mostly carried revolvers.
Good luck and have fun
