Sorry folks, but 640X480 results in a fuzzy photo. Anything better gets me a "file too large" error. Anyway, the press works great for me. I've found that a great deal of pressure is not needed, but instead, moderate pressure with a pause while compressed gives a sharp impression. I really like making my own stamps. I use 5/16 inch hex head stainless steel  bolts. I'm fortunate to have a small metal turning lathe to remove the hex corners, but would have found another way had I not had my lathe. Emery cloth polishing down to 1500 grit followed by buffing with Mother's Mag polish gives the stamps a mirror bright finish. I need to make myself some pear shaped stamps, etc. The throat depth on this press is sufficient to reach to the center of any holster I envision making, and it won't eliminate the need for me to hand stamp completely, but on repetative stamped borders is will give me very good control of the depth and orientation of the embossing. The other day I was at a large gunshop here in KY and ran across a new version of a stainless Ruger Single Six. Couldn't pass it up so I laid down the money and took it home (see picture)Today I hope to come up with a pattern for a thumb break strongside holster my wife can use for open carry when we go on our scooter excursions. I'll be border stamping on the project I'm sure. Wish me luck please, Don.

Nice Ruger. I would think taking a picture of the impression on a scrap piece of leather would be the better way to show the impression. Taking a pic of a polished stamp is like taking a pic of a mirror polished knife and believe me that is hard to do and get the lighting right. That's the big challenge getting nice knife photos for my website.

Nice stamps, Tallbald. If you're using Windows XP, you can download a picture resizer from Microsoft that will reduce the size of your photos. That way you can start from a nice, clear larger photo and make it 640x480 to insert.

Cool little Ruger.

Thank you Marshall. I got to use the press and emboss a small holster for my wife to carry the little Ruger. I used the bullseye stamp as she wished, to border stamp it.  Even, moderate pressure works very well. The press sure makes things easier on my hands, and quieter when working in the kitchen. I think I'll try to download the resizing program. It's frustrating to keep getting the "file too large" type messages. Thanks again, Don.

You can also check you camera, you should be able to set the amount of pixels you want, if you can set it  for the lower setting this along with resizing will produce make nice clear pictures, I use a Canon SLR, and it's a 1200 pixel camera, I have to set it down to 300 pixels to have my pictures clear and sharp after resizing, hope this helps.
