Sorry folks, but 640X480 results in a fuzzy photo. Anything better gets me a "file too large" error. Anyway, the press works great for me. I've found that a great deal of pressure is not needed, but instead, moderate pressure with a pause while compressed gives a sharp impression. I really like making my own stamps. I use 5/16 inch hex head stainless steel bolts. I'm fortunate to have a small metal turning lathe to remove the hex corners, but would have found another way had I not had my lathe. Emery cloth polishing down to 1500 grit followed by buffing with Mother's Mag polish gives the stamps a mirror bright finish. I need to make myself some pear shaped stamps, etc. The throat depth on this press is sufficient to reach to the center of any holster I envision making, and it won't eliminate the need for me to hand stamp completely, but on repetative stamped borders is will give me very good control of the depth and orientation of the embossing. The other day I was at a large gunshop here in KY and ran across a new version of a stainless Ruger Single Six. Couldn't pass it up so I laid down the money and took it home (see picture)Today I hope to come up with a pattern for a thumb break strongside holster my wife can use for open carry when we go on our scooter excursions. I'll be border stamping on the project I'm sure. Wish me luck please, Don.
