Thank you Delmonico,Maybe those who would try to belittle the Duke, should look up how many politicians sons evaded WW2,due to university studies & the like.Did'nt Congress, because of the requests of his friends Maureen O'Hara & Elizabeth Taylor(rip),strike a Medal to honor the Duke, with the John Wayne "AMERICAN".I wonder how many of those, that belittle him have one of those.

What's that got to do with John Wayne?  ::)  John Ford belittled Wayne on movie sets the rest of his life for not serving and the Duke took it because he knew Ford was right. John Wayne never shot anyone in real life. Always remember that when you watch his movies and remember that guys like Audie Murphy & Neville Brand killed hundreds during the war. Fact vs. fantasy. I choose fact.  ;)

Delmonico

As I said, I ain't going to judge Wayne either way, but to say he never shot anyone is wrong.  He shot Burt Ward out quail hunting one time.   ;)

A huge number of Actors never did anything like the roles they played. That does not take away from their acting abilities. Some of them backed the values we hold dear. I've know people who supported Law Enforcement but were never in Law Enforcement. Because they supported me and other Officers/Deputies I think well of them. We have plenty of folks who act well but hate the values we hold dear, those are the ones we ought to be worked up about.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

Amen on that one, that includes the majority of them out there today.

How close do you think the Costner movie, "Wyatt Earp," was?

Bill

Well since this thread has wandered all over the place anyway, Costner was originally cast for Tombstone but disagreed with the focus of the movie. He thought it should be more about Wyatt. Costner decided to make his own movie the way he wanted it and then used his clout to get all of the studios except Disney (Beuna Vista Studios) to refuse to distribute Tombstone.

Willem Dafoe was originally cast to Doc Holiday in "Tombstone" but Disney refuse him because of his controversial role in "The Last Temptation of Christ".
