Herbert,

Don't understand.  If the CH die has served you well for so long, why change to another brand?  Or am I missing something from your post?

The OAL of the loads for my AS spencer is 1.9 inches, the OAL for my original 56-50 carbine & rifle is 1.5 inches and I have my expansion die set up as a compresion die as well,so instead of adjusting my dies when I load for difrent rifles I want to have dies set so there is no adjustment nesecery when it comes to yousing the dies, and the Lyman & RCBS dies are much cheeper and are advatised as being for the AS spencer,I will youse the CH dies set for my original Spencers

I've done the same thing with powder droppers. I only shoot black powder, and I like the Lyman 55 dropper. I have acquired quite a few Lyman 55's over the years, and have one set up for each of the rifles I shoot on a regular basis. That way I don't have to reset the dropper every time I load. Some say it's lazy, I say it's just real convenient!

If RCBS ever made a bad set of dies in any caliber, I'm suire they made good on them.  Personally, I seldom have used anything except RCBS. If you have any concerns about the differnces in specs, send them three (3) fired cases and the bullets, and if you can cobble together a dummy round using the alternative components, they can either confirm the dies will work as-is, or what it would take to make up a set of dies specifically for that round.  They may not be the least expensive, but their quality has always been good.

Actualy the RCBS dies are the least expencive, which I found strange ,I use booth RCBS & Lyman dies in other calibers and never had a problem it is just if somthing does not work over heer it is a very slow process geting it fixed or replaced
