Changing the backstrap on my Pietta 51...

Love my Pietta Navy, but the (mis)shape of the grip has always . . . well, just bothered me. Was looking at Numrich and found this backstrap and triggergaurd combo, in squareback no less:

Would this fit the Pietta? Yes, I know I'll have to get new grips. I plan to make those myself. I'm a bit of an amateur woodworker.

Why are you going to replace everything and make new grips, why don't you just fix what you have? Look at the last page of these posts. http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php/topic,40069.50.html

Pettifogger has how to guides over on that forum for the Pietta cap and ball pistols. He shows exactly how to reshape your back strap and blend the wood.

I have long heard how good Numrich is for getting parts.

When I looked up a new cylinder for my 1858 Pietta Remington NMA, the $121 price nearly gave me a heart attack!  I think they're around $90 from VTI and supposedly, Cabelas still has some at $50-$60.  What's up with Numrich prices?  I realize it was over 10 years ago, but I only paid $109 for the whole gun!


(Any of you who have converted your Pietta to shoot cartridges want to get rid of any 44 cal. C&B cylinders for some ca$h?)
