My Pa has picked up  a Pietta "Smith Carbine"....also bought a bag of plastic cases, a few brass cases, and a Pietta bullet mold. Looks like I'll be doing the casting one of these days.

Does anyone have experience with the Pietta mold?
What type of handles fit this mold?
Preferred alloy? Pure lead or a bit harder?

Any lessons learned loading this bullet or others, load preferences, tips, etc appreciated.

Thanks!

If that is the same Pietta mold that is sold on GB and Ebay, it will cast a bullet too small. Better to get a Lyman 515139, as my experience with the Pietta is it will not work. It casts about .500 vs. the required .512-.520. Use the same 350 grain bullet as the Spencer shooters.
