Hi all. Thanks for all the replies and helpful information  offered in reply to my posts. I want to make a press to use my homemade stamps for border stamping holsters. The arbor press I got at Harbor Freight has a 5 1/2 max height. I'd like to leave the stamps as long as a regular hand stamp if I can, but don't know what the length of a factory one is. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Don.

Don the stamps I have are about 41/4" overall length.

Thank you so much. that's what I needed to know. I just finished detailing the press I bought, i.e. filing sharp corners, chamfering edges and holes, and degreasing. Painted it burgundy because that's what I had in the cabinet from Mighty Dollar. This is an art craft, and don't laugh, but I think the press would look nice with a trailing vine up the side and a clear coat top. A nylon press platen will be added, made from a cutting board my wife donated. Don
