Hi
Iam in the market to get me a couple of these to shoot cowboy here in the UK and was wondering if the stainless versions are that much better than the blue versions and worth paying the higher prices.
Most of the ones i see advertised over here have the target sites, do they shoot better or will the non target sited versions shoot reasonably close to point of aim.

You have this, I suppose?

Paladin UK and Ned Pepper GB post here, as does Angel Eyes from Nottingham.  PUK & Ned shoot at Pickett's Hill near Bisley.  My son shoots there as well.  There are quite a few ROAs in use.  Stainless may have a slight advantage in cleaning, but if you can get either one, go for it.  If you will be shooting under bwss rules, I think adjustable sights would be classed as modern.  My personal inclination would be to get a pair of round tops with shorter barrels if available.

I see three on guntrader.co.uk.  Pretty pricey!  Why not look at those Pietta Remingtons? Look around a bit and attend a shoot or three.  When my son was getting set up there were several guns available from club members.

Hi sir Charles
Thanks for your reply, yep been a member of the BWSS and shooting regular comps for the last couple of years. Was with Angel Eyes yesterday at a big shooting show he'll be running the BWSS stall there today. Been shooting with a couple of nitro converted 1860's but fancied getting a couple of rugers and shooting a bit of the black stuff.
Because of the strict laws over here people tend to shoot what they can get regardless of the sights.
You are right about the prices overhere there was a time when no one wanted them and they were quite cheap but now they are no longer made the prices shot up.
Ideally i would like a mixed length pair 1 long 1 short with out target sights but will have to see wahts available.
If the clean up isnt much different then that opens up a bit more choice.
Thanks
again

Deputy Dewey,

Good luck with your search, I have been looking for another fixed sight model for well over a year( I have one stainless)

I find them very reliable and accurate when used with DD's big lube bullet and about 30grns fffg.

Sir Charles' son uses a couple of .36 Pietta Remingtons and they are very accurate, I may well go down that road if I cannot find another Ruger.

Regards,

Ned

Howdy Ned
Saw a long barrel blue one on  gunstar earlier, will need to offload a couple of things off my ticket before getting a variation, guess if its been over a year looking theres no rush but with my luck a couple will turn up like buses  and i wont been in a position to get them.
