I have done a search and reviewed what is available on making cartridge boxes.  I want to make up a few in 56-56 and information is limited.  Does anybody have any labels they have made up they can share or that can be downloaded and printed off.  Any help would much appreciated.  Just can`t bear the thoughts of taking a nice original 1860 carbine to the range and taking out a plastic ammo box........seems a little perverted.

Much obliged Two Flints, I think one of these will do what I want.  Lots of stuff out there on the 56-50, but not that much on the 56-56.  Now if I can get my computer to print screen I should be in good shape.  Thanks again, Wormey

Another thought, if you don't what to make up cardboard boxes to hold your cartridges is to get a Blakeslee's cartridge box. It would be period correct, hold up to 91 rounds, and be much faster to load your Spencer.  JW

My friend of many decades, Judge Fox known to the forum as 5judge has already rubbed it in to me that he has a blakeslee box.  At some point I shall endeavor to fabricate  one not having the financial means that my more worthy brethren are blessed with.  In the meantime I will make do with rounds wrapped in paper with a label glued to the outside.  I am from the south and as I have already told the judge, kind or reminds me of my confederate ancestors who rode up on a nice horse armed with an enfield muzzleloader or doublebarreled shotgun and being confronted with a yankee calvaryman armed with the assault rifle of his day, a spencer.  Oh well, "poor folks got poor ways".  Got my labels printed this afternoon and will fabricate boxes soon.  Wormey
