Reverse Index Pawl

Howdy.

I grew up with a Ruger Single Six and whenever i was in the woods it was with me, even when hunting with a rifle or shotgun.  I even shot myself with one, but that's another story....

Anyway, I kept thinking how nice it would be to have one again.  I saw a 6 1/2" fixed sighted one on the Ruger web site that looked great, but when I checked with them they (Ruger) stated that only the Vaqueros and an anniversary model had a reverse indexing pawl.  I was frankly stunned as I find it hard to imagine trying to line up he ejector rod with that tiny .22 hole without one.

Is there anyone out there who can convert a non-indexing Ruger (Single Six in this case) to one with a reverse indexing pawl?

 I shoot a couple of the old Ruger Single Six's, and have never had a problem loading or unloading them, I'm not sure what you are referring to, I can understand why you would want another Single Six, they're great guns, mine have thousands of rounds through them and they shoot better today than when new, my six and half inch was sent back for the change over, I haven't done that for my 5 1/2", here's a couple pictures. IMO I prefer my guns to index. it makes loading and unloading much easier I've never felt it necessary to have cylinder reverse.

If they are the older ones, I suspect that they may very well have the reverse index pawl I asked about.  It simply means that when you are unloading and rotate the cylinder backwards it stops when in alignment with the ejector rod.

       Your right, that's the way mine are, got mine in 66, I have never cared for the free wheeling that some pards seem to like, I guess I'm too use to the SAA when it comes to single actions, I misunderstood your meaning, sorry about that, yea having the cylinder to index backward for alignment for loading and unloading is the way I like, and I find it much faster than these free wheeling cylinders, IMHO.
