58' with birdhead grips

Howdy,  Looky here, I was doing a little cleaning on one of my 58's and uh 3 1/2" of the barrell fell off.  Now that brings up the fact that I was gonna machine a new trigger guard that didn't hurt my finger when I came across the purdy pictures my Amin of his snubnose with the birdhead grips.  Before I wait fer the old lady to doze off and steal my cleaning kit (read that as hacksaw) back, is it legal to shoot that mod in SASS competion, Frontier and classic cowboy.  I asked on the shooters den forum but as of yet have had no responders,  she goes to bed real early!   Kent

Chopped barrel and modified birdshead? Absolutely legal, so long as you don't put target grips on it!

Just curious - since the grip frame and gun frame are one solid piece, how is this even possible?

I'm assuming you're planning on grinding off material from the "rear corner" of the frame. But the grip frame doesn't appear to be thick enough to stay in one piece and still grind off enough to make a true bird's head curve?

Has someone actually done this? Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it would look cool, I'm just confused on how it would be done.
