I installed a Lyman globe sight on my Chappy 24" rifle.  I had to file the base to fit the dove tail as the dove tail is a fair amount smaller than the 3/8" base.  I filed the base a bit too much and used a brass shim made out of a piece of cartridge case under the base in the dove tail.  I'll find out how well it works the next time I go out.  I went with the globe sight that is .404 high.

How have you fixed the loose sight problem?

I'm interested in the answer too  :)

I have Rocky Mounitan sight from Track of the Wolf for my Uberti 73.... It's base is to small and slids right through
the rifle 's dove tail

Major 2,

I took a case from a fired 17hrm and cut off a small square that fits in the dove tail then slided the sight base in on top of it and tapped it in place.  You can use thicker brass from a center fire case or 2 or more of the shims from the rim fire case.

Hope this helps.

Took my rifle out yesterday and the globe sight worked just fine.  The sight stayed in place.

I've actually pulled a Track of the Wolf  globe sight of my newly aquired 73 to be replaced with the Rocky Mointain.
The Globe Dovetail was a bit bigger and the 3/8 Rocky Mountain is loose in the DoveTail

I have not reearched how early the Globe sight goes   :-\
