Howdy

I have the book by Wiley Sword. I was at a big gun show today and one of the book sellers had a copy of the Les Quick book. She only wanted $90 for it, I know that is a good price, I just did not want to spend that kind of money on a book today. She is a nice lady, but the book was sealed and since I knew I was not going to buy it I did not ask her to open it.

My question is, do you have the book or have you had a chance to page through it? I know it is a dumb question to ask if it is worth the money, I would just like some opinions on the book, whether you liked it, specifically why, that kind of stuff.

Thanks
That's bad business! How long do you think I'd stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he'd pay me that much to stop robbing him, I'd stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!

My wife and I knew Les and his wife Jan for many years.  It was hard on all who knew him, when he passed away.  We still keep in touch with Jan and visit with her at many gun shows here in the West.  Les was a world class authority on the Henry Rifle as well as the 1866 model Winchester.  Believe me, the book is well worth the price, if you are a student of the Henry Rifle.

Great book and well worth the price.  I have really enjoyed my copy.

Just purchased the book, new on ebay for $ 74.95 + 6.95 expedited shipping. Looks like there are two left.

DJ,
Just received my book last Friday. Wow, it is a good one. Lots of excellent pictures of actual rifles and well researched factual information. Provides history of the rifle and it's manufacture. Talks about all of the different manufacturing changes. Gives serial # information. Just a wealth of information put in a comprehensive and well thought out way.
Pard's,
I don't presently own an Henry, but I will soon be rectifying that. I've admired the rifle for quite sometime. Would like to purchase a Cimarron, Civil War Model, but I've not heard good things about their customer service. I am well acquainted with Taylor's and they do provide good customer service, but they don't offer the Civil War Model. I'm kind of riding the fence right now. Any thoughts?

I've never had anything but excellent CS from Cimarron. Remember, many who post on the Internet tell their biased & subjective CS experiences often eliminating that their brother in law Maynard gave it an "action job".  ;D :D ;)

Howdy Again

I finally ordered a copy last week. It showed up a couple of days ago. I have only paged through it so far, have not sat down to give it a good read. Looks like it will take quite a while to digest it. One thing I noticed right off the bat is there is a photo of an iron framed Henry that was case hardened. That's really great news for me, it means I will not have to strip the pretty case hardening off of mine and have it blued.

I thought the same thing when I got the book.

I guess it is something us case hardened henry guys look for.
