I'm very new that this whole thing, and I was wondering if anyone produced a reproduction of the COlt Lightning DA's?

Thanks

Not that I'm aware of, at least an exact repro. There is an SA version by Uberti and imported by several firms. They're called Lightning, Scout, or Stallion...........Buck 8) ;)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

I agree with Buck. I don't know of any DA clones, just SA clones.

Do you have any idea why no one has produced a Lightning DA repro?

The inner workings were pretty delicate, better designs were made. There isn't much call for them, either.
The current Lightnings are SA's to keep them usable......Buck 8)

I think Buck has the right of it.  Since the rules say you have to use a SA..why bother making a replica DA?

I have owned both, Colt Lightning DA and a Cimarron Lightning SA.
I prefer the Cimarron Lightning SA .
The Colt's action was a weak and delicate design.

There were a few Belgian copies of the Lightning.  They were of average to poor quality and they did, unfortunately, copy the frailties of the design as well.  Frankly, if you want a double action pistol, there are several lesser known guns out there.  There are also many pocket pistols of various designs and strengths.  For CAS, single actions really are best.

Like other 'wanted' Old West guns - a manufacturer has to have a true demand and wants to make a profit.

In the case of C&WAS firearms - too few would actually pay the purchase price of what's on their 'Want List' - though many would be happy to state on a poll that they couldn't live without one.

Somehow - the manufacturers seem to sense this...

In so doing - they know that their offering would have to have some sort of sales to a secondary market and frankly - there are numerous excellent double-action revolvers extant - so the 'possibility' of selling to someone other than a C&WAS shooter dwindles.

Originals suffered from a fairly delicate lockwork, and by this time - those springs are pretty tired as well.
Replacement parts are a catch-as-catch-can affair - with the bulk of those parts resting in other folks' guns - and those folks are proud of them.

Good Luck.

Scouts Out!
