I have this IverJohnson in .38s&w with a bulged chamber
I'm only shooting blackpowder through it and brass from the damaged chamber still extract fine

Curious if it would be worth the effort to try to hammer the bulge down?
Was thinking of having a friend with a lath make a chamberplug that i can insert while i tap it with a brasshammer.

Or am i just asking for trouble?

I had a brand new .44 72 Open Top.  The cylinder got dropped on the floor and bent.  (A Ruger cylinder chips the floor, don't ask how I know.)  I turned a tapered plug and hammered it in until I hit the perfectly round part of the plug.  Tapped the cylinder and you cannot tell it was ever bent.

Quit drinking when you're working on guns, Pettifogger. You won't drop as much.  :o ;D :D ;)

I consider a bulged chamber to be a bit more problematic than one that has been dropped and the mouth dented.  A bulged chamber would point to having been fired with a gross overload and that can create crystallization of the surrounding cylinder material.  Do you know how it became bulged??
You would need a chamber plug and the circumference of the cylinder would have to be evenly supported or the result would be a re-formed chamber on one side and a flat one on the other side.
I personally would not repair a deformed cylinder and return it to it's owner.  If you can't replace the cylinder, it's a nice paper weight.  Shoot it at your own risk.

Coffinmaker..
It was bought unseen from a dealer in the other end of Sweden, i did not see the bulge untill i had fired it.
I had some Lapua .38S&W smokeless that i used (the revolver is made in the -30th so it should handle that)
After that i have not used that cylinder other then test one blackpowder round.
It extracted fine with that.
My main use for the revolver is sidematch's and that involves only 2rounds
so it is realy not that big of a problem to just plug that chamber. ;D
Thank you for your consern.
