Well Skeeter, I share the same gripe about it not being authentic, but I've been rather fond of Silverado since my childhood.

But then again it is geared toward family. And that can be trying for some of us who desire a bit more grit in our westerns.

Myself included.  :D

Was it a family scene when Kevin Kline is standing there in his red underwear, and a bullet is shown going through his underwear, almost causing him to lose "Big Jim and the Twins?"

How about "The Return of Josey Wales" starring Michael Parks, now that's real tip-toe through the pasture puddin'.
When the cambrian measures were forming they promised purpetual peace. They swore if we gave up our weapons the wars of the tribes, they would cease, but when we disarmed they enslaved us and delivered us bound to our foe and the Gods of the copybook headings said, "Stick to the devil you know." A couple of us here watched that last weekend. First time I had ever watched it without falling asleep.

Did they even know about the Civil War in New Mexico before it was over?

It may have been mentioned here already, but Butch and Sundance the Early Years with William Katt was a total bomb.  Replacing Redford with a guy with a blonde afro did not work for me.

Paint your Wagon.  I like to distinguish between westerns and movies told using western themes, but wow.  Singing?

Yeah, Clint missed his calling as a recording artist.
