Not exactly period correct for GAF, but I know some folks here are experienced shooters.   ;)

Anyone have any experience with these? I'm thinking of one as a "varmint getter." I know it's a bit of overkill (in both price and caliber) but sometimes "gun lust" is not rational.   ;D

I also plan on making a scabbard for mounted carry. I think I can use the same general design as the M-1 Garand scabards. I've a friend with a full machine shop who'll make the metal "box" for the operating rod.

I'm a southpaw, if that makes any difference.

Thanks, in advance for any information!

If you prefer, PM me and we'll not "muck up" the general site.

If you're a left-handed shooter - you 'may' wish to reconsider.

Ejection patterns 'can' put the hot, flying empty straight across your nose - and 7.62mm NATO comes out of the chamber at a high rate of speed, and somewhat violently.

As to the comment on 'overkill' - you're right on the money on that one.

'Gun Lust' aside - find someone who owns one of these look-alike things and see how you and it get along, before you decide to buy one for yourself.

I'm a lefty and have fired thousands of rounds through the M-14 and M1A without any problems with ejecting cases.

No nuthin about the scout m1a. but my full size that I had rebarreled from a standard rifle by champions choice with the heavy match barrel bedded into a GI wood stock (came with the cheezy nylon or plastic stock which I had bedded and still have, if only I could find someone id did not like).  I digress.  The rifle will shoot right at a minute at 100 with old eyes and iron sights.  If the scout is anywhere close it will definitely hold minute of yote.
