Taking alook at some of the art I see in this forum, I am inspired to try and do some higher end work.

I see many makers using antique style sterling silver conchos and, after my version of an exhaustive internet search, have not found what I am looking for...

Something like the conchos on Chuck Burrows 002 hatband would do for a start.

Thanks!

Little Al,

Just as a kneejerk reaction, I have found Chuck Burrows and Will Ghormley to be amazingly open about their sources for conchos.

I am currently using Will Ghormley's Johnny Ringo pattern which uses Sterling Silver (I believe) conchos to make the pattern.

I would contact both of these men and tell them what you have said on an email and see if they might share their sources with you ....

I get many of mine at Indian Jewelry Supply  www.ijsinc.com look at both conchos and buttons - the ones on the hat are buttons. The only "problem" is you have to solder your own backs on...

Other sources:
Diablo Silver - wholesale only though and they are custom orders only as well so ther's a lag time.
Ugly Otter Trading Post
Ebay can have some decent stuff
Do a search for Sterling Silver Conchos and Navajo Silver conchos
I also get a fair amount at second hand stores and pawn shops - since we're so close to the Navajo rez there's plenty out there, but it's getting real pricey as is all Sterling and Fine Silver goods....
Finally Buffalo Brothers conchos are decent for the price albeit NOT Sterling Silver - then again they are cheaper so............
