hey yall! Im new to SASS and i purchased a Uberti/tristar-regulator 45lc earlier this fall. i loved watching cowboy action so much on the outdoor channel so i think im going to try it. i have purchased a holster with the gun but it was a economy holster. the hammer strap has broke many of times and i been practicing twirling my pistol around the house Unloaded as u know!. I have always wanted to be a cowboy and kinda in a way my dad farms and we have little over 200 head of commercial cows. i just got a 4 wheeler in stead of horse to ride through em lol. but i have been shooting any chance i can get. i ordered a a triple K #791 catridge belt with #787 left and right cogburn crossdraw holsters from cowboyneeds.com. i have never seen anyone wear there guns like this before except in some westerns. i dunno if its against the rules or not but i think i will look like a bad SOB lol. i going to wait till spring time when i get back in the fields before i purchase another pistol matching or not. i have found some matchin ones but i duno if i can find a cattleman with brass frame so it will at least look the same i have read they are a little bit better but other people say the regulator was fine with a little mod. I'm plannin on a steoger coach gun and some type of lever. would love a 1860 henry or a uberti 94 but may just need to buy something like a marlin or winchester just to make sure i like doin it. and all advice is welcome.

Howdy Kid, the crossdraw holsters are not as common as they used to be in CAS, but some folks still use them. They do look cool.  Just gotta be sure that when you draw or holster them, you don't break the 170-degree rule; the muzzle can not point sideways or backwards, has to be downrange. Depending on how you wear them and what angle you are standing compared to the firing line, this often requires you to twist your body as you draw or holster.  I'm not familiar with that model of holster, but crossdraw holsters also cannot exceed 30-degree angle from vertical when you wear them.  That is a SASS rule, not sure about NCOWS.

Oh yeah, couple other things.  Uberti doesn't make a copy of the '94.  If you are talking Winchester '94, there are some used for CAS but most will tell you that it is not a good performer for CAS.  If you are talking Marlin '94, those are popular in CAS.  But in general, it is good advice to try to attend a match and check out other guns before buying.  Let them know you would like to handle some different guns and most pards are just too happy to show off their guns.  Your Uberti Regulator should work fine.  Just don't try to twirl it at a match  ;D

Thanks bud,  i just looked on uberti now and they didnt have it i got confused Cimmaron i think make a 94. i just need to wait and go to a match and look like u said. after i read what u said about the double crossdraw i might need to go and cancel and just get two strong sides. i dont know enough about it. All it is is just the right hand crossdraw about your left pants pocket that comes with some of these holsters i just bought a left hand crossdraw to match because i couldnt see giving 300 dollars for a holster and belt and plus i liked it but guess i should have asked before i ordered.

Double crossdraws are tricky (here is a couple shots of me with my Remingtons in my Scout gear) need to practice stance and drawin to the dance so you don't break the 170. But they are big on style points.

post some pix as you get stuff
ps: instead of cancelling yer order, just add one strong side. I do that with most of my rigs. esp. with the double cross. I got an extry strong just in case.

Cold Creek,
Like Curley said, don't cancel that order.  Annother thing to try is to wear the cross draws as strong side holsters.  They ride similar to Jack Pallance's in Shane.  I have found that with shoulder problems this set up makes it easier (less painful) for me to draw my pistols than my set of slim jim straight pulls.
