I've got a new Uberti Remington 1858 Navy percussion revolver, the date code makes it a 2009 production model. Can anyone tell me if this is a forged frame model. Also does anyone make a conversion cylinder in 38 Special for this model.
Thanks

I don't know that the "Navy" Remington has been made with a forged frame, I know the 44 is, it was done to enlarge and strengthen it for the factory conversion in 45 Colt.

I have 38 conversions in my Uberti 36's by Kirst.  You might check whether they still make it, ask Raven, or the Howell/R&D, ask Taylors.

Uberti switched to forged frames for all their Remington models in 2007. The owner of Taylor's confirmed this when I asked her in person. I had a 2009 Navy and it had a forged frame -- they have sharper lines than the older cast frame models.

Well, I know R&D used to make them...my Pa has a pair for his Pietta NM Remington Navies...I know they were available for the Uberti as well. Check with Midway USA, Buffalo Arms & Taylors.

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to know if their (Uberti) colt models have been changed to forged frames as well? I read some where that their Walker model has a forged frame, I heard rumors the Army and Navy models might too.
Thanks again.

For CAS shooting there isn`t a nickel`s worth of difference between a good casting and a forging.  ;)
