I found the coolest thing this weekend,.....in one of my OLD Ideal reloading books I found a 30-06 Gallery Load.
If you want me to post it and it's OK I will,....or I can scan the page and post it,......
These loads were supposed to be about 1300fps and with a rifle sighted in at 200 yards with 150gn jacketed bullets these hit about 1/2 inch high at 50 yards. They are easy on the shooter, brass, and your rifle.

Two 5 shot groups shot at 50 yards, One was the group shot on camera but I can't recall which,.....

Regards,
Sgt Chapman

I'd like to know the load.I have a m1 garand and some pests that load would come in handy for.

SGT John Chapman

Sent ya the load but be careful about reduced loads in an M-1,...

That load sounds like it might be a bit light to cycle a Garand.

SGT John Chapman

I'm pretty sure it is,.....my only concern is how it will act on the OP rod,....If I were not worried about that I would just hand cycle them through the M-1.

I really don't think it will hurt the op rod they hold up to 2800 fps so a lower velocity shouldn't hurt it

SGT John Chapman

With the M-1 it's not a limit to which it can handle it's the rate the gas is delivered to the OP rod...

I'd say that if the load you are talking about uses a fast pistol type powder, then the pressure at the gas port, almost at the muzzle, probably would barely budge the piston. Or if it did try to cycle, it might not have enough pressure remaining to open the bolt fully. The main problem for Garands is slow rifle type powders that have more pressure remaining when the bullet passes the gas port.
