Other than just laying your holsters down on the table, do any of you do anything different with your gear you sell?
I am setting up at a gunshow for the first time at the end of the month, and am thinking of doing something with dowels to hold them. BUT, that seems it might get in the way.
My wife suggested what amounted to a holser bouquet, using dowels fanned out of a block of wood, with the holsters stuck onto the dowels. This wont work if the holster has a toe plug obviously...

So, what do you do? Just let them lie thier in the leathery glory?

You could come to our show in Crete this weekend and try your display, we still have some room.   ;D

Most that I have seem have them just lying there or maybe a stand up dip lay with some hanging on it.  One thing is label them.  I hate looking at holsters (anything for that matter) and having to try to figure out what it was made to fit.  It may be obvious to you but not to use dumb consumers.  Could try a sample belt with several holsters slid onto it.  The only limit is your imagination.  Glad to hear your getting your work out there.

Sorry Bow View. Heading to the Kansas State shoot this weekend.
I will make my debut at Grand Island Halloween weekend. I probably wont have much there, but can take orders at least with what I do have. (hopefully)
The test belt is a good idea. I should probably make one anyway, just for sizing people. I have had 3 here lately that people have told me sizes over the phone, and now I gotta re-make em bigger. Seems they now realize that pants size is not waist size.... >:(
Another one of them the guy just lost wieght this past year, but its an easy fix.
Will you be at GI?

I saw some once that were around a pvc pipe big enough around to cinch them down, home builders use them to make faux marble posts in front of houses. When they were building around here i would find them thrown away with paper still around them, pieces they cut off and didn't use.I thought about using dried palm stump, but my wife wouldn't let me bring it in the house ;D Put holsters around it and stick the knives in the top :) Palm is real light when dried out..

I used one built like this for several years and it worked very well for me.

A large dowel about 1 1/2 inch or so upright attached to a square block of wood at the base. Drill holes through the dowel parallel with the base and smaller dowels slid in and glued that the holsters could hang on. Kinda looked like an antenna standing upright.

I'll have to look for it to get a picture.

Ned

I just did a quick drawing, iyou will need to clamp the base to the table.

DM I go to leather and wood carving shows to show what you make. They give awards for best design, workmen ship, ect. Nothing for sale and I just have them laying on the table. KT
Cheer up things could be worse, sure enough I cheered up and they got worse.

Howdy gents.

I apologize for not having the best materials for my demo, but I just grabbed what I could find to show what I was trying to describe. So here it is:

Get a board and stand it or hang it the way you want to. If the board looks good enough, just go with the wood. It always compliments leather. Otherwise cover it with something that would bring out your work. Indian blanket material is cool, but if it is too busy it will overshadow the holsters.  Staple the material to the board. Most holsters have "slots" for the belts to go thru. Position the holsters on the board that will best display the holster and make holes thru the board and use either leather thongs, or get real creatitive and make small sections of a belt to threat thru the board and fasten in the back. Here is where ya can use your imagination. And, it can be used over and over to put similar holsters for another show. You could even attach a sample belt at the top and bottom of the board for display of your belts (or do a seperate board just for your belts...

Tips: as I said before have the background material compliment the leather, NOT over shadow it. If you do the belts, fix it so the buckles are showing to enhance the drama of the display.

I can think of a bunch of things to do to make this a real show piece but I just didn't have the time to make it up.
I hope this helps

PS I went to all the trouble to thread a leather thong thru the board and you can't even see it. well just imagine it is there cuz it is..

Ned, I had that idea in my head. I am glad it is a proven method. Shouldnt take long to make either.
I like it Curly! Once I get some good samples done, I will probably make something like this.

And Rick, how the heck is Floyd gonna help display holsters??? He aint got no hips to hang them on.... ;)
