I got an old Remington 41 rimfire.  I'd get one of those but OH what a BIG hinge  :(  I'm sure it's stronger than the Rem but damn, it's sooooo BIG !!!

does anyone know if American Derringer is still in business?  I tried their web site and no answer, tried the phone and no answer.  I have thier .44 Mag and was wondering why it keyholes with any bullet I put through it.

Hey Ed, I checked their web site and I couldn't find anything about a 44 mag model.

They have a model 7 light weight in .44 special.

I shoot the .45 Colt all the time but I'm not sure I would want to try and hold onto a .44mag derringer.

I landed one of the #4 .44 Spl."Slab-Side" derringers several years back. The shop had acquired it used, but it languished in the safe at the gunshop for a couple of years, because the box was marked ".45 / .410", and those are a no-no in California.
At any rate, I wanted to shoot the ".410 Derringer" in the gunsmiths shooting booth; lo and behold the shells wouldn't fit. Stamped on the side of the barrels: .44 Special... No one had ever looked. I bought it for, well... $35 plus tax and DROS fee.
Speer shot-capsules, round ball, SWC's... It's not a Remington, and it's not .41 Short RF, but it's a lot of fun! And the shot-caps do a satisfying job to three long strides distance.
E.C. ... Run a soft lead ball down your barrels & take a measurement; it may be a little off in dimension. For fun shooting, try priming & charging your case with 3 or 4 grains of Bullseye, and a lead ball coated with Lee Tumble Lube!

I got the .44 mag about 20 years ago when I lived in Az.  I will admit that .44 mag is a mite interesting, .44 Spec is MUCH more fun to shoot, but no matter what the bullet tumbles.  I'll try slugging the barrel and see what we come up with.

Ed, check to see if the muzzle crown is square to the bore, I've seen some that were off just a bit and that will make the bullets tumble, sometimes all it takes is a fresh crown to fix things up.

Howdy Pards and Pardettes.

Ed, Pard I emailed Lady Derringer last week from their web site and she answered back that they would make me up one and send it to my ffl.  I would suggest that you try the same thing.  You will pay more than $35 though.  I want one in .44 Russian but I think that I will end up with one in .44 special.

That is all I think I know,
