Marlin made a limited run of the 1894 cowboy rifles about 10 years or so ago to test the waters for this configuration (hence the name "cowboy limited").  These were made with 24" octagon barrels in 357 and 45 LC calibers.  The rifle was well accepted and became a regular production item - the only change was that the barrels were shortened to 20".  I have a Cowboy Limited in 45 LC and really like it.  I just like the balance of the 24" barrel better.

I have a Marlin Cowboy 24" in .357, magazine capacity 13. Good balance, holds steady.
It is now my SASS competition rifle.
Not sure why they were discontinued, bad decision.

I had one in 45 sweet pointing rifle. I used it several times as main match.
It did not care much for BP, course it was bone stock out of the box. It would stiffen up around 3rd stage and the rifling
Micro Grove ? liked a wet swab about each stage.
But with a steady diet of Black Hills smokeless, it would run all day....

I sold it , only because ..I was more into persona (NCOWS). It does not fit into my chosen era.
Also I needed some cash at the time....

What specs do you need?  It's just a standard Marlin 94 Chambered in .357 with an octagon barrel.  I've had one for several years.

Shooting Marlin leverguns, or any good lever gun for that matter, can be a serious addiction. An addiction without a cure that requires acquiring additional lever guns from time to time..

I have both a 24 inch octagonal barreled .357 rifle and a 20 inch octagonal barreled .357 rifle. I also have two Marlin 1894's chambered in 45 Colt. One in 20 inchs and one in 24 inches. And there are some more Marlin lever guns in my safe.

Along with my two .44 magnum 1894 rifles I have a barrel of fun with my Marlins.

There isn't any great reason to have two of each of these Marlin rifles...However, I do notice my son comes quiet around often to shoot them with me.

Love my Cowboy Limited in .45, goes well with my Uberti Bisley.
The first step of becoming a good shooter is knowing which end the bullet comes out of and being on the other end.

How many of you have seen a Marlin 1894 limited in .44-40?

I have one. The rifle is gussied up with some engraving and better wood in the stock.

I haven't seen one, but know Marlin made some a number of years ago.  I'd love to have one, as 44-40 is my black powder cartridge of choice.  I'd trade my 45LC version (plus some extra cash) for one in a heartbeat.
