I just wanted to let the folks here at the Spencer Shooting Society know about our new blank cartridge cases. They are made in the USA and provide a cheap and easy alternative to brass or .410 blanks for the .44-40 Spencer (and other .44-40 repeaters and revolvers). No special tools are required for loading, and ready-to-fire blanks can be made for less than 25¢ each. For more info, please see our website at:

Also, I would like to offer fellow Spencer Shooting Society members a free sample for you to test. Just send your mailing address to us in an e-mail (it is on the website) and we will send you some free blank cartridges for you to test out in your Spencer.

I got the blanks today and tried them in my Armisport Spencer.  They would not cycle and I had trouble getting the magazine spring to slide past them.
They also will not work in my Sharps & Hankins as the lip gets deformed when the breach is closed.
They seamed to work fine in my Henry.

Hi Terry,
Not sure why you had trouble getting the blanks to feed in your Spencer. I sent you a couple of extras so you could give it another go. Below is a link to a youtube of the 44-40 blanks in action.

Hi All,

Another vid of shooting blanks in a Spencer and... a demonstration of my comic abilities. (Hint: watch until the end.) Enjoy!  :D

I shot 10 rds of the plastic blanks this past weekend using APP.      I had trouble only if  I didn't load one in the chamber first.   Worked the action forcefully and it was great.    Cheap and easy.   Loud report and no plastic residue in my barrel.   Cases split as was expected.      I ordered 100 to really try out.     I don't anticipate any problems.
