I need help with my WCF theory

This post may belong on another forum, but I am putting it in the Darksider Den since you guys and gals are the most likely to shoot the WCF cartridges and impress me with your knowledge.
My 1-st Gen Colts require the shoulder to be set around .98" for my .32 and .38 WCF rounds.  I cannot seat the rounds completely with thumb pressure unless I used sizing dies that have been ground down.  The same rounds do seat in my original Winnies ('73 and '92) with little pressure.
But if the same cartridge has been fully seated in the '73 or '92 it will now fully seat in the Colt!  I believe that I am sizing the cartridge in the Winchester with the aid of the lever.
If you have companion rifle and revolver I would be interested in your rsults of trying the same.  If a round does not fully seat in your Colt, chamber it fully (and carefully) in your Winchester and then try it in your Colt again.
I wonder if our cowboys knew of this???

Yes..pretty much the same experience here...but it is dependent on the chamber size on your lever-gun & also that of your revolver. All the Lee Dies I am personally aware of in 44-40 & 38-40 (for use in revolvers) have been ground down in length as you describe. Some done by Lee for free under warranty...one done by me using a course honing stone.

I would be surprised if Lee hasn't made the change to production dies....theay are very aware of the situation
