Once again, I'm researching.  Buffalo Arms lists two offerings of brass for the 45-75.  One is "just" 45-75 brass (and cheaper).  The other is 45-75 brass "from 50-90 Starline Brass."  Anyone using either?  Quality, value, etc?

Thanks again.

I have both and used both.  I also use 45-75 brass that is made by Jamison and headstamped "45-75 WCF".  All are good.  When I started out, I used new 348 brass and trimmed and fire-formed them.  As I said, all are good but I would stay away from Bertram brass just because of the cost.  I also have some of that but had one case failure so be your own judge.

I too, use .348 Winchester brass to make .45-75.  I've fired this brass in at least two dozen different Winchester rifles and carbines in .45-75 WCF caliber over the past 40 plus years and never had a single failure.

I use Jamison Brass in my 76.  I'm very happy with it.  I've had various problems with brass that has been trimmed and formed from other cases.

The price at BACO looks good, too.

I can fire both in my original Winchester, but only the 50-90 sharps reformed with work well in my Chaparral 45-75 short rifle.  The diameter of the rim base is larger than the 348.  This gives a firmer base when the action is closed and ready to fire.

Thanks for the input.
Like I said I'm new to all this, so I should have been more clear, I suppose.  My apologies.  The brass will be used in Uberti Centennial.  Would that alter anyone's experiences?

Thanks again,
Hugh

It makes a big difference.  The Uberti can have a different chamber shape than an original or Chaparral 1876.  Its body is longer and the neck shorter, giving it a larger capacity.

Do a search in the Winchester Model 1876 board for Uberti .45-75.

If you have one of the Uberti's with the larger chamber, you will need to fire form your .45-75 cases and should get a set of dies made specifically for the Uberti .45-75.   It may be all Uberti's have this problem, but there has been talk of them changing over to the US SAAMI spec.

I have an early uberti with the larger chamber and it serves me very well.  I did, in fact, fire-form all my brass and have never had any problems.  I got a trim die from RCBS by sending them a fire-formed case.  For the acutal process, I neck size only so have no problems with dies which, by the way, are Lee.

Cimarron

I have a Cimarron/Uberti that I bought in June.  It has the SAAMI .45-75 WCF chamber.  I have been using the Jamison brass without any problems through a couple of reloads now.  Graff & Sons at Mexico, Missouri has a pretty good price on the Jamison brass.  I am also using a set of RCBS Legacy dies.  The BACO 350g bullets are working very well too.  Good luck.
