Howdy

TNN was running a bunch of John Wayne movies last night, and True Grit was one of them. First time I ever noticed that Tom Chaney's Henry was unloaded. Yup, the follower was all the way up by the frame.
That's bad business! How long do you think I'd stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he'd pay me that much to stop robbing him, I'd stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!

Fox Creek Kid

It's un Uberti in the remake & an original Jeff Corey holds in the original movie. Google Jeff Corey for a fascinating read.  ;)

Hey Fox Creek Kid

Thanks, I have known about Jeff Corey for a long time. Quite a career. I always liked him as Wild Bill in Little Big Man and the crusty old lawman in Butch and Sundance. Loved his indignation and surprise at being shot by a little girl in True Grit. 'I've been shot by a child!'

'I didn't think you'd do it.'

Major 2

I did notice it was unloaded  :)

I also posted this on the Henry's in Movies thread.....

I knew Tom Chaney carried a Henry..tonight for the first time ( when Cheney shoots Mattie's father )
I noticed the loading port ... a King's Patent ?  maybe 66 with Henry Barrel ?
Later at the creek ,Tom Cheney has an actual Henry 1860 when Mattie slides down the hill and finds him.

Confirmed ...I've watched that movie when it opened in 1969 and some 40 years never noticed that before
