Had a friend over last night and was showing off my cowboy guns.  He really admired my New Dakota model P with 7.5 inch barrel, beautiful color cased frame 44- 40.  I told him I'd found it at a gun show and paid $275 for it.  It obviously has had an action job done on it.  Action as smooth as silk and light as a feather.  The grips are actually brown... not red.  Fact is, I've always been lucky with buying used guns.  All but one has been real gems, with good actions and brown wood grips.  The only thing wrong with the New Dakota 44-040 is one tiny little scratch on the under side of the barrel about a half inch back from the muzzle.

So how about you Pards?  Found any real good ones out there on the used gun market?  Tell us about 'em.   8)

Once found a S&W 38SA, 5 shot spur trigger second version for $65.00.  It looked brand new except the grips were missing.  A half dozen tables away I bought set of grips for $10.00.

I grinned until my face hurt.

WOW!  That's a hell of deal.  I mated up my 7.5 inch 44-40 a few months later with a 3 inch Sheriffs model 44-40.  It was the last hour of the last day of the gun show.  He was asking $350 for it.  I got it for $200.    8)
