Two spurs..  that is funny.. and happens a lot.. lol..   My step brother is 4 years older than me and he didn't like the horses much so he didn't under stand the.  One day he took the old mare out to pick up some buckets in the calf pen my dad put up a electric wire pen and we would move it once in a while to feed calves.  Anyhow, he tired the empty buckets to the saddle strings behind the cantle.. lol..  Walking the old horse was fine, but he nudged her into a trot and the buckets started the bang bang into her flanks.. lol..  yeah, she took off sliding into the bankyard, and dispached him over her head into the empty old wagon... lol..  It took a long time to get her to stop, she was full of foam once we did.. lol.. he refused to ride for the longest time after that.  When he did ride again he took a gun with him and fired a shotgun off her back..  lol..  Stupid is as stupid does they say, huh?  He is alive today, but hates horses.. lol

when I first tried mounted shooting, I had seen more than once what happens when guys tried shooting off there horses. mostly pack string horses where hunters were being packed back into the wilderness . theyed fire once and miss, but when they fired again the horse would let them have it. so I saw a mounted demo at a rodeo, and asked how they trained there horses to put up with it. he trained them that after every shot they would get a treat. till they looked forward to it. gradually they got treats after two shots then thre etc... mounted shooting is alot of fun but its not cheap! at the time I had six kids still at home.

Life is a rush into the unknown, You can duck down real low and hope nothing hits you, Or stand up tall, show it your teeth, and say "Dish it up Baby and dont get stingy with the Peppers!!!"

Yep it does take a while.  I use to hunt up north around Lake Mary in AZ and took either ATV's or horses.  It took a while to get them to stand there when you fired a round off even just standing close on the ground.   Nice thing about them is they get use to stuff if they are exposed to it a bit, and yeah they do take bribes.. lol.

That's not unlike how the old US Cavalry trained their horses.

A bit of trivia, Errol Flynn was the first Hollywood Star to push for humane treatment of horses in movies. He starred in 'The Charge of the Light Brigade' and dozens of horses were killed or crippled. Flynn went public and got Laws passed protecting the horses. After Flynn's death Hollywood slipped into their old ways and it was years before new protection was put in place.
