How do you even respond to stupidity like this? Where is Darwin when you really need him?
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

Pavement capacities overloaded, power lines moved, bridges overloaded, overpasses endangered, traffic rerouted,  etc.

Leave it where it is and bust it up there.  It's not art, it's building material.

I object to one cent of tax money being spent for artsy-fartsy crap like this.
People like me are the reason people like you have the right to bitch about people like me.

Utilities are going up again soon, they are bound and determined to starve us out and make us homeless!!

A few years back they put some art out in front of a building in downtown San Antonio. So one morning a City Trash Crew carried off a piece of art. You'd a though that they'd a burned down the Alamo, it made the news for a month. Of course ii was repaired' and put back out for public enjoyment.

Yup, "...one born every day!" according to an old sage that never seemed to stop gigging his crowds.
FWIW, one of the board of directors for an eastern Iowa Community College that I worked at in the last century, hailed from one of the seven counties that made up the college district. He would wax rhapsodic in his elder years at the monthly board meetings about a rock that he would climb on the old family farm and read books on, and how that generated his interest in higher education. Yup, some read in comfy chairs, some read in apple trees and some read on top of rocks, I always preferred the haymow in the barn as it was far more comfy and the horses didn't care when I cackled about the philosophical ramblings of various treatises, but I digress...
Anywhoskee, this esteemed college director thought it appropriate to have the self-same rock dug up and transported to the college where he served and that it would 'serve' as a point of interest to help generate those who wanted to expand their eddikashuns, uh yup.
So, he wrangled a bunch of donors and diggers and heavy loaders and transporters to get' 'r done and moved the rock over 100 miles, m/l, to the Southern entrance of the college and to be deposited in such a place as to gain recognition and honor for the practice of learning.
O.K. When he used to climb up on it in his youth it was only 10-15' above ground, but when they started to dig it out to load up it was more than 20' deep and over 40' feet around and weighed a lot more than what they had anticipated, cute. Nonetheless, it was a done deal and it got loaded and transported to the specified site and placed in position for the 'official' dedication with media, college staff and local dignitaries, etc., etc., etc. As the puzzled look we all witnessed arose on his face at the dedication ceremony it became obvious that something was wrong but that nobody on-staff was going to say anything or else get their collective assess reamed, BUT, some of us finally mentioned the fact that the soil coloration lines indicating iron deposits that always leave a line and that the top half was far darker than the bottom half, realized that in fact the huge rock had been dumped upside down on-site and never moved! Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk!!!
To this day if asked why the top half is 'darker' than the bottom half, you won't get an answer other than rocks take on shades of differing color over time, nobody wanted to accept blame for getting it wrong and costing the taxpayer a ton of $!
So, the piece of granite out there ain't the only one to have been codified, we can only hope they get it right side up!
Best regards and I have a piece of quartz creeping up in my driveway via upper midwest annual freezing and thawing that might be just the ticket to go under the granite, but it's gonna cost ya!

Well now we know WHY the People Republic of Californication is broke and in debt. It also shows us another example of what "rock" is NOT. It isn't art and it isn't music.
I will no longer respond to the rants of the small minded that want to sling mud rather than discuss in an adult manner.
